DGSA & Regulatory Services
Over the last twenty years the regulatory burden on the
products of the chemical industry has increased exponentially. This
complex and fast changing world of chemical legislation has by
necessity led to the creation of a new profession, that of the regulatory
specialist. Despite the requirement for competency and
appropriate training in basic regulatory activities, as of yet, there is no system of formal qualification for
many of these roles and
expertise is developed through experience. Whilst the large multinationals
employ dedicated regulatory staff, this is not always an option for others,
leaving them vulnerable to inadvertent non-compliance and lack of preparedness
for new legislation.
Seil Synergies
was formed to provide regulatory services for the company
who, whilst needing to comply with the legislation, does not find it appropriate to employ a full
time regulatory professional. Seil Synergies provides regulatory
services to a varied client base located in the UK and Europe. DGSA
services are focused in Scotland and England. Clients range from large
manufacturing companies with international sales,
to SMEs, to one/two-man operations, research, academic and regulatory
organizations. Client activities include: chemical
manufacture and importation; R&D; UK and global export sales; retail sales; road haulage; supply of dangerous goods in tankers,
academic
research, and; supplies to the construction industry.
Working with such a varied client base brings a good
understanding of the needs and concerns of the different operations,
building on the knowledge gained prior to the formation of Seil
Synergies.…..
Sara Wilson is
a graduate chemist with twenty years experience in chemical regulations,
starting in the Product Regulations
Department of Allied Colloids Ltd in Bradford, which then became Ciba
Specialty Chemicals. The company’s varied product portfolio and its
worldwide sales provided a broad base of experience in chemical regulations
and big company systems. Whilst Sara was studying for her MBA she was
appointed Head of Product Safety and Registration at Ciba. Sara left Ciba
in 2003 to move to the west coast of Scotland and set up
Seil Synergies.
